Hey friends! I swear I’ll get the hang of this blogging thing again soon. Give me time to gently easy back into regular posting 😉 For now, I thought I’d do this tag I found from Shannon at It Starts at Midnight! It felt fitting to talk about me a little when I’ve been gone for so long. Let’s just dive right in, shall we?
When did you start blogging and what was your first review?
I started blogging back in July of 2015. Can you believe it’s almost been 3 years since I started? That is bonkers! I deleted some old reviews because of how much I hated the writing for them so the oldest one you can find published is for Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella (super cute book, by the way)!
Who/what inspired you to start blogging?
No person or specific thing inspired me to blog. I wanted a place to chat about the things I loved and I originally was doing that on Instagram (aka bookstagram). After a while I realized I wanted something MORE- more space to vent or fangirl about things, so I started this blog and discovered a whole new community of awesome people.
What is a blog-related goal that you have?
At the moment, I don’t have a goal really. If I had to choose something it would be to simply blog. Yep. I just feel like I keep falling out of blogging but I love it still. So, I just want to be consistent with this again. I miss it so much!
Where do you usually blog? What does your setup look like?
I used to blog at my desk with my PC but since my PC broke and I’ve been using my laptop, I blog anywhere. Right now, I’m sitting on the floor watching my husband play video games. I also like sitting in my reading nook chair sometimes.
What is one thing you wish someone told you about blogging?
That it takes a lot of time. I don’t have a regular day job so when I began blogging it was easy. I had all the time in the world to dedicate to it. Granted, I noticed the amount I was reading went down a lot. However, I had the time to put into it and it didn’t feel stressful. Now that I have a small business to run, I notice more and more how much time blogging actually takes!
What was your biggest blog-related accomplishment?
Oh goodness, I have no idea. I suppose I would say that it was super awesome to be able to interview Erin Bowman and Jennifer Niven. While it didn’t require having a blog, I don’t think I would have bothered trying if I didn’t have one.
What types of posts do you enjoy writing?
Negative posts. Anything that involves me ranting about something, I love it. I think you can even tell in the way I write the post that I enjoy them. I’m more animated and have a lot more to say. Don’t hate me 😆
What was your last 5-star read?
Stalking Jack the Ripper FOR SURE.
What was your last 1-star read?
I think it was Wintersong – though that may have been a 2-star.
What are three words that make you pick up a book?
This definitely depends on the genre so I’m going to pick one from each genre: POST-APOCALYPTIC, MOTORCYCLE GANG, and SPACE PIRATES. Yes, I know that those aren’t individual words but that’s okay.
What is your Hogwarts House?
I have taken the quiz several times and have gotten Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. Most people just say I’m Divergent.
What is your favorite reading environment?
My bed and no noise. Although, I can handle it if my husband is doing his own thing watching a movie or playing games in the same room – any other noise is a big no-no.
What advice would you give to new bloggers?
DO YOU. Just don’t worry too much about what you think other people want to read. They want to read what YOU’RE excited about writing. If you aren’t interested in what you are posting, most people can tell. Just focus on making your blog about YOU. The readers will come (but do make it visually appealing because we are visual creatures).
I tag anyone who wants to do this! Just go for it.
Tell me what one of your blogging goals are in the comments!

Ooooh what are some good Space Pirate books?!?! That sounds awesome. Like Firefly!
I haven’t found enough tbh. I need more. The first thing that comes to mind is starflight. And the Animated movie treasure planet (which is amazing btw) hahaha
Haha, I love that you like writing negative posts! I find I always have a lot to say when I didn’t like a book. And your advice for new bloggers is wonderful!
Haha yes! I always have more to say when I don’t like something than when I do like it. Funny how that works
Lovely answers for this tag, Molly 🙂 We can’t imagine the time blogging takes until we really get into it, haha. I started blogging while I had a bit of time on my hands, yet more and more, trying to juggle with a full time job, I realize just how MUCH time this hobby is taking. We love it, so that’s great, but yes… it takes a whole lot of time anyway hahhaa 🙂
I agree that it’s so important to do “you”, YES, I love that advice. We should just try and make our blog a place we love for ourselves and the rest will follow 🙂
It is SUCH a time consuming hobby. From replying to comments, to blog hopping, to thinking of what to write, to actually writing it. It’s all a lot of time out of your life haha
Definitely. It’s scary, when we try and just see how much hours we spend 😂 but… we love it, so I guess it’s okay 😂
I really like your reading nook chair! Divergent us a good thing to be 🙂
Thanks! It’s a cozy corner. 🙂
Aw yay, I am so glad you did this!! I LOVE your blogging area so much! I wish I could blog anywhere, but I find I only get stuff done at my actual desk, even though I use a laptop too. Your advice about just being you is soooo true too. People can spot authenticity (and the lack thereof!) plus it’s more fun to just be yourself! And YEP to the negative review! The words, they just keep flowing!! 😀
I got rid of my desk when my PC crashed hahah I just didn’t have a use for it anymore. So now I’m forced to work wherever lol. Also, that’s very true. People can tell if you’re not being yourself somehow! And YAY FOR NEGATIVE REVIEWS 🙂
I love this tag! I am glad that you are back to blogging, regardless of whether you are posting regularly or not. I know how hard it can be to have a schedule, so don’t sweat it.
Anyway, I absolutely LOVED Stalking Jack the Ripper! I have always been intrigued by serial killers (like in the sense that I am obsessed with Criminal Minds, not in a creepy way I promise) and Jack the Ripper is like ultimate unsolved serial killer case. The story was so unique and I loved all of the characters. Plus the twists actually managed to surprise me, which is not common for any mystery/thriller novels. I haven’t gotten my hands on Hunting Prince Dracula yet, but I plan on reading it as soon as I can find a copy!
Aw thank you! I am really trying to be consistent. It’s a slow process. But at least I’m looking forward to replying to comments and writing posts again. Baby steps 🙂
HA okay I can relate. I watch a lot of ID channel and other murder mysteries. So I think that might be why I liked this book so much lol
I haven’t stopped by in a while I guess, and I love the new look! Your photos are gorgeous. And your reading nook chair looks so cute and comfy!
I was trying to find examples of bloggers showing off their book nooks and loved this post so much I joined the tag! I think I’m going to do more book blogger tags in the future! My biggest blog related goal right now is to figure out how to make just enough through affiliate sales to cover the blog hosting cost each year.
Thanks again for the book blogger tag Qs!
That’s awesome! I’m glad it inspired you 🙂
