Goodreads

Lali is emotionally and physically weak, unfit to be numan. If nothing changes, she could fail in her journey and never find The Lill.

There's only one thing she can do to get the clock of fate ticking in her favor, only it's far more difficult than her mind can comprehend.

Lali feels nothing can break her spirit, until the least of her expectations happens. It only takes one lie to change everything forever.

I also reviewed Lali of the Lill (part 1) if you want to check that one out!

Once again, Mandal did a great job creating a unique story. I enjoyed the sort of angelic and mysterious aspects that this book had. The mythology, or the other world, was much more prevalent in this book than the first one, which I liked. The first book left you off with a lot of questions, and while I enjoyed it, I just felt like there needed to be more.

This book gave us more. It took Lali away from her home on a journey with basically a stranger. Within that journey, there are a lot of interesting encounters and development of Lali’s character that created a  layer of mystery shadowing the story. Again, not a bad thing, I actually loved that. There are so many things yet to be solved, but the book gave me much more to work with than the first one.

It’s not perfect, though. The writing and pace need some work. I also wished for some more world building – I had a hard time imagining where they were. However, I didn’t find it too distracting to get through. There are a lot of puzzles yet to be solved, but it left me wanting more. I’m going to say the same thing about part two as I did about part one:

It’s a fast, easy read that will leave you with a cliff-hanger and hoping for the next book as soon as possible! It’s not without its flaws, but for an independent, novella-length story, it’s a great read. Go in with an open mind and you’ll leave pleasantly surprised.
