I don’t usually post my TBR because, let’s be frank, I don’t stick to them. However, July has so many readathons and book clubs that I can’t resist. So, here is the readathon and the book club I’m participating in this month with their respective TBRs.
The book club I am participating in is #MYTHTAKEREADS hosted by Ashleigh and Charlotte. They choose a new retelling of mythology each month & this month the book is a Greek mythology retelling: Circe by Madeline Miller. This has been on my TBR for a very long time – since last year when it was the Book of the Month choice! So, I am very happy to be finally getting around to reading this one.
If you want to participate, it goes all month long with a Discord discussion. Make sure to check them out on Twitter for more information. If you don’t want to participate but like retellings, they’ve created a masterlist with SO MANY book recommendations all organized by the pantheons! It’s such a great resource.
The big readathon I’m participating in this month is The Book Junkie Trials hosted by Rachael Marie. She put so much work into this – creating a quiz to get sorted into the groups, an entire world map, and a set of challenges for each group. Personally, I’m a Bard! So, on the Bard path, I have 5 books I need to read by following the red path on the map.
- The Elven Guard (a book with war, military, or political themes): The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
- The Hallow Isle (a horror book): The Wicked and the Damned by Joshua Reynolds, Phil Kelly, & David Annandale
- Empty Barrel Inn (an indulgent read): Monument 14 Sky on Fire by Emmy Laybourne
- Giant Squid (an intimidating book): War of the Roses Stormbird by Conn Iggulden
- The Bookie Grail (group read): Stardust by Neil Gaiman
Going from barely 1 book a month to needing to read 6 (all out of my comfort zone) in one month is quite ambitious – but I can do it!
What are you readin this month?
Are you participating in any book clubs or readathons?

Hi, Molly,
#MYTHTAKEREADS sounds so fun! I actually have a retelling of Beauty and the Beast in my trial TBR. Which book/s are you looking most forward to reading on your list?
I’m looking forward to reading The Hobbit again. I sped through it the first time and just want to enjoy it more this time. Also, The Wicked and the Damned because it’s part of the Warhammer universe – which is a game my husband loves haha. What retelling of BatB do you have? There are so many!
Omg, definitely going to look into both of these readathons/readalongs! I’ve had Circe on my TBR since it came out, and this would be the perfect push to finally pick it up!
That’s exactly why I joined that book club! It’s been on my shelf since like April of last year haha. I hope you join in & have fun if you do 🙂
The Book Junkie Trails looks like so much fun. I’m only a few books away from finishing my summer reading challenge and I think I might check this out. Thanks!
wow! Finishing a summer challenge already! That’s awesome. I’ve barely read one book this month lol
