The 2020 Magical Readathon is here! This April is the O.W.L.S! I wanted to participate in this last year but I didn’t discover it until the N.E.W.T.S and I’m too anal-retentive to not have done the O.W.L.S when they were happening. So, here we are! Finally participating in it – and what better time than when I have rejoined the blogging/online book community.
What is the O.W.L.S you ask? It’s a readathon inspired by the test of the same name in the Harry Potter books. Basically, you pick a career path then complete the required “classes” to pass – really, they’re just prompts for the books you need to read. It’s super simple but G from Book Roast made it so much cooler with her guides and community!
My Career: The Magizoologist!
My prompts & book choices
» Care of Magical Creatures (a creature with a beak on the cover): The Merciful Crow (I really had to stretch this one )
» Charms (white cover): The Bone Houses (it is more white in person, I have the Owlcrate edition)
» Herbology (title starts with an M): My Lady Jane
» Potions (under 150 pages): Low Lives
Bonus courses, seminars, & trainings
These are simply extra book prompts you can read if you so wish. I honestly don’t think I’ll get to them, but I feel like being ambitious and including the following:
» Animagus Training
» Dragon Tamer Training
» Legal Defence of Fantastic Beasts Seminar
» Merpeople Linguistics
However, since I really don’t think I’ll get to these, I haven’t chosen a TBR for the prompts. If I happen to make it to any of these, then I’ll make one. Oops.
Are you participating? What career did you choose?
What books are you going to read?

I’m participating in this too. I’m doing Trader of Magical Tomes with a seminar in Magical Shop Management. I might do some of the other things if I get through these first though. I still need to post my tbr on IG cause I had no internet when this started.
I honestly don’t think I’ll finish but here’s to trying! Good luck with yours
Best of luck with the readathon!
THank you!
This is so cool! My reading is really off that I’m not able to take on a prompted readathon right now but this art and background is beautiful!
Honestly, same lol I’ve only finished 2 books this year and they were both under 200 pages soo….we’ll see how this goes! haha
The Merciful Crow is a great read. This readathon like so much fun!
I’ve been wanting to read it for so long so I hope to get to it! I’m glad you enjoyed it
