Hello! Today I’m officially “announcing” my planned participation in Wyrd and Wonder! What is Wyrd and Wonder you ask? It’s a great month long fantasy event in which you read, watch, and talk about all things fantasy hosted by One More, Dear Geek Place, and Jorie Loves a Story! They have prompts you can follow for each day, or you can wing it. They also have a read-a-long you can join in on! Which I plan to. Basically, it’s a month to just fully consume yourself with all things fantasy – and I am so here for that. So, without further ado, here is my plan for May…
Obviously, I plan on reading fantasy books this month! I always make a TBR but I don’t always stick to it, so this is more of a guideline. These are books I really want to read, they’re priority, but who knows, I might pick something totally different! I’m just going to try my best to keep in the fantasy genre (but I’ll probably sprinkle into the Sci-Fi genre as well, but hey, it’s all fantasy right?)

- THE BONE SHARD DAUGHTER – Goodreads – This is the group book for the official read-a-long. It’s perfect because it was on sale at Barnes & Noble recently so I snatched it up. I’ve heard great things so I’m excited!
- THE SHADOW OF THE GODS – Goodreads – I. Am. So. Excited. For. This. Book. The cover! The synopsis! I’m so ready to dive into this one (as soon as it arrives lol). Also, I do want to read his other series starting with Malice! I already bought that one, so I might throw it into the mix while waiting for this one to arrive.
- DUSTBORN – Goodreads – One of my most anticipated releases! This one is more of a sci-fi/fantasy rather than a traditional fantasy, but I still think Sci-Fi counts. I can’t wait to get to this one. As soon as I finish my current read, I’ll probably pick this one up!
- KING ARTHUR – Goodreads – My husband and I are going to be buddy reading this together! We got 2 matching copies and will be reading it throughout the month.
I also want to catch up on some comic books / read some new ones! I haven’t been reading comics a lot lately so I have plenty to choose from. Plus, ever since I posted about ComiXology the other day, I’m inspired to tackle that tbr as well! All the links below the images take you to the comic book’s ComiXology page (since some of these are originals only available on there).
EDGEWORLD // SNOW ANGELS // SAGA // THE WICKED + THE DIVINE // MARIE OF THE DRAGONS //
THE SWORDS OF GLASS // THE WITCHER VOL. 1
Some other things I plan on doing is watching movies, tv, and playing games that fall under the fantasy genre. I don’t have specific ones I want to play or watch (but Shadow & Bone is one of them), so there’s no list for this. As for the blog, expect most of my discussions and reviews to be connected to fantasy as well. I just want to be all consumed by fantasy for a month is basically what I’m saying.
I’m super excited for this month long event, especially because it’s so casual. Whenever there are strict prompts or guides to follow, I get overwhelmed and give up. So, I’m looking forward to just gushing about all things fantasy all month long, or not, if I decide not to 😉
Are you participating in Wyrd & Wonder? If so, what do you plan on reading for it? If not, what is your favorite fantasy book that you think I should read?

Happy Wyrd & Wonder! I hope you have a month of fantasy goodness ahead of you. 😁
Casual is the name of the game – who needs rules, we just want to enjoy a beloved genre with friends 🙂 I am also planning to watch Shadow and Bone – I haven’t read the books, but I can’t resist Ben Barnes sorry I mean the buzz, ahem.
I stilllll haven’t watched S&B lol I’m so behind
I’m gonna participate too and I just added King Arthur to my tbr. I love Saga but I never finished it so maybe this is the time to do that as well. Good luck with your plans 🙂
Ohhh let me know what you think about King Arthur. My husband and I are verrrrrryyyy slowly working our way through it.
I love this idea so much. A whole month for fantasy- yay! The Bowman book looks awesome.
Ah yeay I’ll be reading Shadow of the Gods this month too. Super excited for it!
Yes! It sounds so good!
Hallo, Hallo Molly,
Happy Wyrd And Wonder!! 🙂 I’m wicked thrilled you like our relaxed approach to hosting the event!! We wanted everyone to feel comfortable with W&W – since our first year, we have approached this the way we’d like to celebrate Fantasy and it has become a wonderful community where adverturers come and go each year; some stay on with us and others take a break whilst new participants join every year as well. I’ve loved to see the mutual love of Fantasy being shared across platforms of the social bookish as much as all mediums of Fantasy being celebrated & explored. I usually do a bit more variety myself – however, in lieu of guest authors this year, I’m posting a month of reviews and some other prompt specific posts whilst seeing if any of the stories I’m reading will count for the bingo card, too as I’m over the moon giddy we have one this year!!
Like you, I tend to have ambitious TBRs for Wyrd And Wonder – and your also right – those are guidelines if we can’t read them all during the month but the best bit is that whilst we attempted the monthly TBR we had a lot of wicked sweet fun in the process! For me, that’s at the heart of the event itself – the full immersion of the genre, the exploration of new authors & publishers whilst reading awesome SpecFic in the journey.
Over the weekend I released 2x reviews (both of which I highly rec for those who love Middle Grade Fantasy – esp as one was on audiobook and I found both #unputdownable and brilliant) whilst I also revealled a portion of my TBR this month on my Year 4 Intro Post. Swing by and see what I’ve been getting up to whilst lateron today I’m planning to release another review — I am quite an ecelectic Fantasy reader and you’ll find loads of subniches being explored throughout the month of Jorie Loves A Story. (big smiles)
#sohappy your going us for the group RAL! This is the first year I could read the group selection and its lovely you were able to find a copy! Mine was gifted to me as I couldn’t source one myself.
Have a wicked wonderful May!!
Great TBR! (And thanks for reminding me of my Comixology TBR, lol. I don’t have much there, but I should get to it too.)
Btw, the Wicked + Divine is SOOO good. I actually like how it wraps up and twists along the way. Hope it goes well for you too.
Marie of the Dragons sounds so interesting. I’m adding that to my Comixology wishlist.
Yeah, I often forget about Comixology too! Then I get charged for it and I’m like OH YEAHHHHH lol
Hallo, Hallo Molly,
On my first visit, I missed the fact you didn’t give attribution to Imyril’s graphics for Wyrd And Wonder!? If you could add that either under the banner or in the footer of the post (like she does herself) we’d appreciate it. As that was the one stipulation if you were to use them on your blog.
Oh my bad! No problem. Added the credit!
[…] putting a bit of a spin on this weeks topic so that it can fit with my fantasy theme for Wyrd and Wonder. Besides, this weeks topic is 10 Recent Reads and I don’t think that’s fun for me since […]
Shadow of the Gods is on my TBR too! It looks so good and that cover IS amazing! Most epic dragon cover I’ve ever seen.
I’ve heard good things about Saga and am trying to read more graphic novels, so I’m interested to hear what you have to say about it.
RIGHT?! I was sold on that cover before I even read the synopsis lol. I’ve read the first 2 of Saga and I think it’s a fun one! Super weird and not for younger audiences if I remember correctly lol
Ahhhh, Saga is SO GOOD. I’m only on Volume Four, but I BINGED the first three volumes because they were so amazing.
I read the first 2 or 3 before but I don’t remember much of it (just that it was super weird but good) hahah
Yeah, I stopped only because I knew it was about to break my heart, but I need to swallow my fear and keep reading!
